TLS Supports Girls' Access to Education in Africa

East Africa’s leading language services provider, Tamarind Languages Services (TLS) was one of the gold sponsors at the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Charity Gala Dinner held on 25th November 2022 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi. TLS has been providing FAWE with translation and interpretation services since 2018 and is proud to support the pan-African Non-Governmental Organisation’s goal of empowering girls and women through quality education and training.

Themed ‘Dance! Dine! Donate!’ and tagged ‘#16millionplus4girls’, ‘#orangetheworld’, and ‘#Education’ in digital and social media, this charity event was organised as part of the efforts to support access to education for over 16 million girls in Africa. Several interventions that will give African women and girls access to education opportunities were highlighted by the event’s keynote speakers.

Notable African women leaders and influencers, including the event’s host Ms Martha Muhwezi (FAWE Executive Director), Her Royal Highness Queen Nazi we Ki Malala of Zulu,  Hon Dr Kitutu Kimono Mary Moretti (Minister for Karamoja Affairs and Member of Parliament, Uganda), Julie Gichuru (Chief Public Affairs and Communication Officer, MasterCard Foundation) and Adelle Onyango (Founder of Legally Clueless Africa and the Adelle Onyango Initiative) graced the soirée and made keynote addresses.

The event provided an opportunity for TLS to demonstrate its expertise in Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) services for the French>English requirement from participants attending the event virtually from around the world. Guests also got an opportunity to interact with the TLS team at the expo tent during the daytime hours which culminated in the evening gala dinner. This partnership with FAWE will see TLS continue to participate in several initiatives geared toward educating girls and women in Africa.
