Marking 10 Great Years in Kenya & International Translation Day 2019

On 27 September 2019, Tamarind Translations organized a cocktail to mark the company’s 10th anniversary in Kenya as well as celebrate the International Translation Day.  The event held at the Tamarind Tree Hotel was attended by 50 linguists and partners.

The United Nations officially made the 30th September an International Translation Day to help translators celebrate the role of translators.  Indigenous language translation is the theme for International Translation Day 2019 in recognition of the importance of preserving and protecting their language for millions of indigenous peoples around the world.

We therefore arranged the 10th anniversary celebrations to coincide with this global day. The event was a perfect moment to reflect our company’s achievements especially in uplifting the professional standards of the local translators and interpreters as well as other professionals like transcribers, rapporteurs, and audiovisual technicians. The need for language services keeps growing in the current era of globalization. Tamarind Translations is proud to contribute towards the growth of the industry in Kenya and beyond. 5 pioneer linguists who joined in 2009 received certificates of recognition and narrated the professional growth they have experienced during the period.

Present at the event were our partners: University Nairobi the Center for Translation and Interpretation represented by Mr. Josephat Gitonga, and Kenyatta University represented by Dr. Stephen Kamau.

We cut a commemorative cake to mark the beginning of the next ten years and we warmly thank all who made our journey thus far a great success!  All the mainstream print media and television station KTN covered the event raising the profile of translation as a profession in Kenya.

Happy Anniversary to us!
